BNN, 11.03.04 Modern Rockmusik in front of the Altar ...The audience got the very finest of modern rock music with christian background. The two artists presented their new CD "eternal". Supported by Richard Evans from London on Drums, Danny Villarreal from Birmingham on acoustic guitar, Heiko Köngeter from Königsbach and the young Lady Leyla Tugal from Bretten... Paul Douglas as well as Gunter Hauser is at home on the keyboard. But they did not dominate the concert. The three guitarists prevented the program from being keyboard focussed. Especially brass accents gave a special touch to songs like "Eternal" (titeltrack of the new CD) or "Tell everybody". There were wonderful ballads as well as the sound "Solid Rock", on which the Douglas-Hauser-Express started to come off before the break. Nearly all songs were dominated by Paul Douglas´vocal power. He could have easily filled that church without PA. Gunter Hauser is responsible for the lyrics. He explained and translated each song beforehand. "Take me to your waters", "Rescue me", "You give us hope", "Changing me", "Escape" or "Let Love" are the songtitels of the new CD. It is understood with this duo, that their lyrics are of christian nature, but this was never obtrusive. The audience heard a good concert with christian background. And so it was not surprising, that Douglas & Hauser were not allowed to leave the altar before playing several encores, amongst which they did the famous "Spirirt in the Sky". Mannheimer Morgen, 02.02.01: "Keyboarders impress with harmony" "21. concert in the "Cross´n Groove-series" at the start of 21.century was D&H. As well as Douglas is Hauser at home on the keyboards which was double enjoyable for keybard fans and double fun with musicians in perfect harmony. Finest pop with a bit of Latin and Jazz... Douglas did well in double-roll as a leadsinger and keyboarder supported by Richard Evans(drums), Derek Crehan(gt) + Alex Schindler(voc). Guitars and the versatility of D&H provided a program which was not keyboard-focussed. Special brass-accents on >Eternal< and >Tell everybody<... sax and rhythmguitar are second instruments for Gunter Hauser while trombone is first one for PD, who studied that.... but mostly the two stayed at the keys and delivered wonderful ballads like "There was a man", "River" or the suprising "Solid rock", which was done in a stormy way by Evans. The fact that there are christian lyrics is not very obvious on the first impression. Gunter Hauser explained that they are about daily problems out of a christian point of view… … it´s been an extraordinary experience." Wildberg, 03.02.01 "Douglas and Hauser bring christian Popmusic into the church of Effringen" Mixture of New-Pop, HipHop and Jazz presented by D&H and their band at the concert in the church of Effringen. The fact that the musicians do understand how to do quality music and are not empty pages in the christian music scene was obviously not roumored in Effringen. Otherwise there would have been more people. Nevertheless the musicians brought full power and delivered an interesting and versatile concert program. ...accompanied by Derek Cehan (gt), Richard Evans (dr) and a young lady from Karlsruhe called Alex Schindler (voc). Badische Zeitung,30.01.01 "Good message in young songs" impressive experience, demanding and versatile, wonderful evening... music of a different kind.musical company of drummer Richard Evans and guitarist Derek Crehan, who did handle their instruments excellently... " Oberbadisches Volksblatt, 30.01.01 "About life, man and hope" "...very good concert with christian backround... creative band.. refreshing way of doing music and texts... deeper meanings transported straight and optimisticly.. various sounds, groovy and rocking, drummer richard evans from london delivering various beats, while the excellent guitarrist derek crehan has set some highlights. Keyboarder, trombonist and singer PD set the drive with his very good voice and his piano-parts."
